Modern LDS Wedding Photographer

You’ve probably seen the traditional wedding photography more often than you would like to admit. It’s usually a few poses of people standing up together in a group. The typical bride and groom poses are so common you could probably list them off the top of your head at this very moment.

The group picture is fine as it shows everyone all together displaying the beautiful array of style and color of the wedding party. To me the best wedding photography is taken by a photographer who relates well with people in conversation. This type of photographer has a way of capturing the essence of the people. By that I mean even though the people may pose, this photographer brings a relaxed energy that allows the poses to look and feel natural.

Best Utah wedding photography captures the loving smile on the mother’s face as she looks at her son in his last moments of single life. There is an intuitive sense of noticing subtle moments and capturing those moments for life.

Black and White Photography In

Digital photography in black and white is often more valued than color. There is a notable depth to black and white photography that leaves some imagination to the viewer. It’s also a great opportunity to be taken back in time momentarily to the days when life was more simple and imagination ruled the day. Great black and white photography requires a set of unique skills to make it outstanding just as color does.

Variety is the spice of life so the best wedding photography will include both black and white photography and color; digital photography and film.

Career information about photography is important to access and focus on initially because it is a competitive market where the work is often attractive to many people. The photographer must have "a good eye", imagination, and some creativity to do well in this field. That's not all. Photographers love going into their own business. Accordingly, they must be able to maintain a business and to take advantage of opportunities provided by rapidly changing technologies. While seeking career information about photography you should first speak to one of your local photographers for information. You can ask questions about the job market in your area and how much training was involved before he/she considered themselves ready. You'll find your local photographer will offer you insight that will be helpful in most cases.

What as a photographer do you plan on achieving? Most would agree, the photographer is an artist, historian, and news event person. Perhaps you had already planned on your career and how you wish to achieve it. Career information about photography will prepare you for specific jobs but you should be aware of other elements related to the work. A photographer produces and preserves images that paint a picture, tell a story, or record an event. The successful photographer is required to have the ability to present a subject to achieve a particular effect while also selecting the appropriate equipment. A good photographer may enhance the subject's appearance with natural or artificial light, shoot the subject from an interesting angle, draw attention to a particular aspect of the subject by blurring the background, or perhaps using different lenses to produce desired levels of detail at various distances.

This is just an example of some of the requirements that a good photographer should possess. Career information about photography will vary according to what type of photography interests you. Underwater photography is becoming an exciting field of unexplored areas. Other photographers specialize in areas such as portrait, commercial and industrial, scientific, news, or fine arts photography.

Portrait Photographers: The one's we see most often who usually come with those special family events. They normally take individual pictures, group pictures and often work in their own studios. A lot of photographers specialize in taking wedding pictures, religious ceremonies, or school pictures.

Commercial and Industrial: Career information about photography includes professionals who specialize in commercial and industrial photography. These photographers take pictures of various subjects, such as buildings, models, merchandise, artifacts, and landscapes. Why would a photographer go around taking these pictures? This is a specialized field wherein a lot of money can be made. The pictures are used in a variety of media, including books, reports, advertisements, and catalogs. The industrial photographer is usually hired in advance and knows what his assignment will be. He does not take pictures and try to find a buyer. The industrial photographer takes pictures of machinery, products, workers, and company officials. The pictures taken are usually for a specific purpose. In the future these pictures help engineer's analysis projects, publicity, or records of equipment development or deployment, such as placement of an offshore oil rig.

Field of Science: Career information about photography is common in the field of science. The recording of scientific data and procedures is often done by a photographer. The field of unusual phenomena or sometimes called ghost hunting uses special type of equipment and is necessary to help prove the existence of perhaps a haunting. Many things evolve when you work in the scientific field that is why a photographer must have knowledge in one or more areas of engineering, medicine, biology, or chemistry.

Photojournalism: Photojournalists are people who take pictures of newsworthy people, places, and sporting events. They are news photographers who often cover political and community events for newspapers, journals, magazines, or television.

Career information about photography would not be complete unless I reminded you of working conditions. The working conditions vary considerably from one type of a job to another. For instance, photographers who work for the government and advertising studios usually work a 5-day, 40 hour week. News photographers often work long, irregular hours and must be available on short notice. Some photographers work part time or on variable schedules.

One last thing - Career information about photography should include the fact that a lot of photographers spend a small amount of time actually taking pictures because they spend a lot of time editing photographs on a computer and trying to find new business especially when they are self-employed.

I always get the question asked, what should I wear? So I thought I'd write an article to help those starting out in hopes that it will help you if the same questions are asked. Or if you are getting your pictures taken it may help you not have to ask... So here are a few of my ideas.

The biggest thing about photographing people is the relationship you have with each other. If anyone is uncomfortable it's going to show in the pictures so begin with building a relationship. If you are having your picture taken you need to feel comfortable in what you are wearing so choose wisely.

Think about layering your clothes. Contrast is key!

Wear something you love and feels good inside and out.

Dress up not down but be comfortable. You can choose to wear a T-Shirt but will you regret it in a few weeks?

If it's an engagement shoot don't try to match. Go with different shades and go with a complementary style.

Patterns are generally a no-no. Most shoots happen outdoors and if the photographer knows what they are doing they will pull textures from the background. It creates a business in the photo if you do both!

Darker colors are slimming and they really are easier to photograph. The lighter the colors the more light it attracts.

Wear shoes that make you feel good. Make sure you love them. Make sure they are comfortable and easy to walk in. If you absolutely need to bring the brand new heels you just bought bring extra shoes to walk in. It really is all about enjoying the time and being comfortable.

Dress for the season. If its freezing outside its tough to look warm and happy in shorts... But be comfortable in what you choose. You will reflect what you are feeling.

If you are bringing a child or a pet its best to have an extra person with you. It's important to have the ability to have someone watching the pet or child when you are being photographed with out them. Bring someone you trust. That way you can still smile relaxed and comfortable with out worry.

If you have anything that you want the photographer to avoid (tattoos, scars, etc.) its best to tell them before the shoot. Everyone has this idea that PhotoShop is the fix all but its more work then you think. So help the photographer before hand to know what you want and don't want.

I hope this helped.

Put Your Best Face Forward On Facebook - Facebook has become one of the most popular destinations for social networking on the web. When I first signed up for Facebook I'll admit I didn't do anything with my account for several months. Then I started hanging out on the site and wasn't long before I realized the potential networking possibilities that existed for connecting with other photographers and business professionals.

4 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Facebook:

1. Set up albums within your Facebook account to display your photography.

2. Provide links to your website, blog, links to your articles, classes you teach and other media coverage you receive.

3. Find and join groups, within Facebook offers tons of special interest groups that you can join and network directly with other like minded or like interest individuals

4. Register a custom URL (web address) for your Facebook page, think of it like a personalized license plate. You or your web designer can set this up through a domain registration service like Godaddy.com. The benefit of offering this short cut? It allows you branding capability for your business and makes it easier for visitors to find you.  If you'd like to see an example in action you can send me a friends request at RodneyonFacebook.info

Follow Up With Twitter - Twitter is another social networking site that took me a while to get. Quite honestly I'm still learning more about Twitter and it's potential influence on my online marketing efforts.  Basically Twitter is a "micro blog" where your text posts are limited to 140 characters. Now I realize that 140 characters doesn't seem like much but think of this way, when you're limited to how much you can say you'll find yourself getting to the point quickly.

When you 'Tweet' (their term not mine) you share a quick post about your current activities.  So for example, if you teach photography workshops you can tweet about that, if you've just published an article to your blog or in print you can tweet about that and create an html link to the direct location where your content is stored.

Don't underestimate the power of Twitter, I'm already realizing the impact of this powerful site. You can follow me on Twitter by visiting the site and entering my screen name in the 'search for' RodWashington to follow my efforts as I connect with photographers, artists & other business professionals globally.

3 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Twitter:

1. Post frequently. Twitter's true power comes from the frequency of your communication. Basically the more you Tweet, the more the prospects you'll connect with.

2. Tie your Twitter feed to your Facebook account. Within Facebook you can have your Twitter posts display on your Facebook page without you having to log in manually to add your posts.

3. Tweet back. When you receive a new follow (another term for someone subscribing to your feed) send a short message in return. It's essentially the same as replying to an email. Whether online or off it's all about forming and maintaining relationships.

Remember no matter what you think of social networking, marketing your photography services online is fast becoming one of the most effective as well extremely affordable methods of prospecting and establishing new contacts.  In addition if you tie your offline with your online marketing efforts your reach will grow even larger and become more effective.

I have some photography information that I would like to share. You can take some great photos, but even great photos will not sell themselves. There is nothing in business, even in the photography business that will sell itself. To be aware of this fact is critical to starting a photography business.

In order to have a photography business that is successful and that will grow you need to have a niche. You need to know what niche you intend to offer and how to sell the benefits of this niche to your customers.

You will want to do some research and a good way to begin with this research is to take a look at your own photos, see what you have collected. Take a look at what you shoot the most, also look at what you enjoy shooting. This can give you a good hint as to what your passion is. A lot of people say that you should follow your passion and the money will follow.

Once you have discovered what type of photography you would like to shoot , take a good look at the market for this niche. You will want to find out what type of photography people are buying.

Here are 10 things that you may want to consider when you are trying to figure out what niche you will want to have. You want it to be something that you enjoy ,yet you want to make money.

1. Try to identify niche's that can fit in with your life style. Check out the various niches and also the market for certain niches.

2. Make sure that you have the equipment that you will need for the niche. Some niches will require that you have more equipment. If you like sports photography or even event photography you will need more than a point and click camera.

3. You may want to ask yourself if you have the specific skills in this niche area. Some niches require that you have an above average focus on the picture.

4. You need to know who your targeted audience is. This is important in any type of business. It's not always about what you enjoy shooting. It can be more about who wants the photography.

5. Know what type of photography does your audience purchase. Are you able to met there needs. People only want the best and you want to make sure that you can give them what they want.

6. Find out who you are competing with. Look at what they are selling and how they are going about selling it. Checking out there website can fill you in on what's going on and what people are buying.

7. See what you can offer people that may be better than what the other guy is giving people. Determine what benefits that your service can offer the customer.

8. Think about where you live. Will the area that you live in will be able to support the niche that you are thinking about.

9.Make sure that you understand the difference in the photography niches and that you know every thing possible in the niche. People will be looking to you for answers about the niche.

10. Consider the future potential of your niche. Photography is always changing and it can take a lot to keep up with the pace. Are you willing to give what it takes in your niche. People will always expect more and if you are able to give it it them you will a solid photography business. As always you will need to take action on the photography information that you read to make a difference.
